News: Future (@1future) Debuts at No. 8, Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) Stays Strong at No. 6 on Album Charts

After heating up much of 2011 and early 2012 with smashes like “Tony Montana,” “Magic,” “Same Damn Time,” and more, Future was out to prove that he could do more than churn out singles with the release of his debut album, Pluto, this past Tuesday. With guest appearances from Drake, Snoop Dogg, T.I., Trae Tha Truth, Juicy J and R. Kelly, the 2012 XXL Freshman managed to move 41,224 units, good for the No. 8 spot on the Billboard 200.

Also landing in the Top 10 was Nicki Minaj, whose sophomore effort, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, dropped from No. 3 to No. 6 in its third week, but still had solid sales of 48,249 for the week. To date, the album, which dropped on April 3, has moved 382,974 copies. As her singles “Beez In The Trap,” “Starships” and “Right By My Side” continue to gain momentum, expect the rapstress to be residing near the top of the charts for some time to come. Nicki’s YMCMB brethren Drake also jumped from No. 29 last week to No. 20 this week, with sales of 15,766 over the seven-day period, making the total units sold for his sophomore album Take Care, which dropped back in November, round out at 1,699,194.

Another Young Money spitter, Tyga, also landed in the top 50, as his YMCMB debut Careless World: Rise of the Last King moved 8,286 discs, good enough to land at the No. 48 slot. Young Jeezy’s TM 103: Hustlerz Ambition (No. 61), Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV (No. 82) and Pitbull’s Planet Pit (No. 99) rounded out the rap releases in this week’s top 100.
