Keri Hilson Works With Dr. Dre & Monica Readies New Single & Album

Keri Hilson recently spoke to Rap-Up about her dream come true session with Dr. Dre. Check out what the “Pretty Girl Rock” singer had to say,

“Dr. Dre is incredible,” she exclusively tells “He’s somebody I always kind of thought, ‘Wow, I wonder what his method is. I wonder what it’s like to be in the room while he does what he does,’ and I got to see it.” Keri saw herself in her legendary labelmate. “He’s very much a perfectionist and it kinda made me understand myself a little bit, why I’m so particular about certain things,” she reveals. “I saw myself in his light and it was great.” While she confirms her work on Detox, she’s uncertain if the material will make the 2011 album’s final cut. “I don’t know. We’ll see.”

Rap-Up also spoke with Monica, who revealed some new information about her current and future recording plans.

Monica has been logging studio time with her cousin Polow Da Don, creating the follow-up to this year’s Still Standing. “I’ve only worked with Polow so far, but I try to get with one or two producers and pretty much create the meat, and then you pretty much get the rest of it done around the center of the album,” she explained.

While an album title has yet to be determined, she’s mapped out a recording schedule. “I really want to come up with the album title very soon, so that it will have direction like Still Standing did,” she said. “I hope to at least have the title in January and a single in maybe March and an album in maybe July. It would have to be something pretty drastic to take me off my path. But if nothing changes, that’s the plan.”

After she finishes this album, a collection of Christmas songs could be next. “I’m looking forward to something like that, something that’s kinda mixed with a little bit of Christian inspirational things with some of the older songs that we all know,” she previously told

Jacki-O Issues Statement Regarding Griselda Blanco Mixtape Name Usage

I did indeed make contact with Griselda Blanco son Michael. He first gave me his blessings and then expressed his need for us both to find a way to relive his mother’s legacy and portray her in a way that the media never did. (Maybe I did go in too much with the cover of my mixtape) (Laughs). After speaking with him and realizing the love his mother has for her children she is much more than a common, run of the mill drug dealer. He told me he was "flattered" that I honored his mother and wished me "continued success" on my project. He was not displeased with me or my work; he only asked that I let the world know that his mother Griselda Blanco is a “caring, loving, business woman". I will take what I have learned from doing my research on Griselda Blanco and continue to empower myself and other females.  I am Jacki-O not Griselda Blanco however we are both women in a male dominated arena and I can relate to having to be strong like she is. Me naming my mixtape after Griselda Blanco was because she is portrayed to have been infamous in the underground world and she was and still is very well respected. We have an open line of communication so everyone just stay tuned for what’s gonna be popping in 2011.

Waka Flocka Mama Pink Friday Review

Despite the numerous success, not everyone is feeling Pink Friday. Nicki’s former manager and Waka Flocka’s mom, Debra Antney gave VIBE a poor review of the rappers debut LP. Mama knows best, right?

It’s terrible. I like some stuff, but she went too left. I don’t think people were ready for her to come [out with pop]. When I had Nicki, I really wanted her to sing. That’s why I took her for training cause Nicki loves singing, but she kept saying to me, ‘Deb, I can’t do it yet because people won’t understand.’ And that’s why the [rap] mixture was done to introduce them to all of Nicki. I think [Pink Friday] was very disappointing to a lot of her fans. She didn’t need a lot of [the] features. That was one of the biggest things like… you gave people so many features, give them you now. Nicki could be so much better because—outside of anything that people say—she’s very multi-talented. I really wish that she would learn to be more of an artist.

I didn’t particularly care for ["Roman's Revenge"], but when Eminem came in I liked it. He made the song. [Nicki] didn’t have to go there with [Lil' Kim]. My views on that is that she came too far to go back that route. And Kim does not even have to go there. There are no comparisons to them. Some things are best left unsaid. The whole things is stupid. I’m very disappointed that she would go that route. ‘Cause I know all that she was taught. She don’t have to go there with anybody. That was the stuff we always discussed. People had to learn to love Nicki— that’s how the door opened up. It wasn’t about Kim or Foxy or any of the rest of them. So I was just a little disappointed [by her album], but If she likes it, I love it”.
