Continuing to cause pandemonium at colleges all across the country this stop on the Gorilla Zoe tour brings us to Kent State check out how he took over the show and shut the college down
Two of Dr. Dre’s favorite newcomers have been in the studio and created something “top secret”. Talk about a tease, guys. Can a brother get a snippet or somethin? Whatever the outcome, it’s sure to be monumental.
Even from behind bars, Lil Wayne had the Midas touch. Two months after the release of I Am Not A Human Being this past September, the album has earned him another gold plaque. This marks the second certification for Weezy this year. In March, his rock album Rebirth also moved over 500,000 units. Thats a milli reasons to smile.
Alicia Keys' crafty Digital Life Sacrifice campaign — for which a slew of celebs will be offing their cyber-selves in an effort to promote World AIDS Day and raise money for Keys' Keep a Child Alive charity — is certainly the buzziest and most star-studded effort for this particular cause we've witnessed.
Celeb "victim" Jay Sean told MTV News that he jumped onboard partially due to Keys' involvement, but mostly because the campaign is dedicated to saving the lives of children in Africa and India, who wouldn't have a voice otherwise.
"I think we all sometimes turn a blind eye to things that might be depressing, too heavy," Sean said. "But sometimes you need to be really shook up and poked and prodded to do something, because the way I believe is that every human needs another human being to get some life. ... We need each other, and I feel like we should all help each other."
Not to mention the fact that Keys' concept of "killing" your cyber-self is brilliant.
"It's genius, because [social media] is the new thing, the new age, and fans, they want complete access," Sean said. "They want 100 percent of you 100 percent of the time. They want to know what you are doing now! They don't want to wait and read it on a website; they want to know now!" he laughed, adding that while the "death" part is tongue-in-cheek, getting fans to bring their favorite celebs "back to life" is the perfect call to action. "I'm not coming back until you donate some money!" he said. "Sometimes you need a prod, and this is the perfect way of doing it."
As part of the Buy Life promotion, the celebrities will urge fans to donate to the charity in order to buy back their online presence. Fans can text the first name of the celebrity they are mourning to 90999, and $10 will instantly be donated to the cause. Participants include Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, Ryan Seacrest, Justin Timberlake, Diddy, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Khloé Kardashian, Swizz Beatz, Serena Williams, "The Buried Life" crew, Elijah Wood, Janelle Monáe, Kimberly Cole, David LaChapelle, Daphne Guinness and Bronson Pelletier.

Songwriter/Producer/Singer/Rapper Rico Love continues to make a name for himself. Not only is he the mastermind behind such hits as Beyoncé’s “Sweet Dreams,” Pleasure P’s “Boyfriend No. 2″ and Usher’s “There Goes My Baby,” among many others, he is currently working on some of hip-hop’s most anticipated albums, including Dr. Dre’s “Detox” and T.I.’s “No Mercy.”
“I just went in the studio with Dre,” he says. “We worked on a few records and he played me some music. We worked on maybe two or three ideas. I’m supposed to go back in the studio with him soon.”
As per T.I., Rico Love says, amidst all of the drama in his life, the two worked on an upbeat, party record with “lots of energy and I’m on the hook,” he says. “It’s a good, fun song for the clubs — it’s something he was missing. When he came home, he was focusing on those tough records. But people want to hear him having fun, so Jim Jonsin and I gave him a radio-friendly record.”
Rico is also in the studio with Pleasure P, Jamie Foxx and his own artist Young Chris, who he signed to his recently launched Division 1 label, a joint venture with Universal Motown. “I definitely want to help brand complete artists that not only look the part and peform, but also are great songwriters, great individuals and have great music,” he says about making the former Roc-a-fella artist the first act on his roster. “He brings great music and speaks to the people. I consider him my Biggie — the way he makes words come to life. It’s just amazing and I’m so excited.”
Young Chris recently released “The Reintroduction,” a mixtape hosted by DJs Drama and Cannon.
As if that weren’t enough, “There Goes My Baby” recently broke the record for the longest-running top 10 song on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for the year, running for 26 weeks. It’s also the second longest-running in the history of the chart after Maxwell’s “Pretty Wings,” which holds the No. 1 spot with 28 weeks.
Dr. Pepper and recording artist Pitbull have joined together for Dr Pepper’s “Vida 23″ campaign. Pitbull will be the spokesman for the 2011 campaign.
“Pitbull represents what Dr Pepper ‘Vida a la 23′ is all about–getting more out of life,” said Andrew Springate, senior vice president of marketing for Dr Petter. “When we first heard the ‘Vida 23′ song he wrote for the campaing, we knew it was a great way to share our message with Dr Pepper fans across the the country.”
The campaign will include TV, online, out-of-home advertisements, radio, in-store activity and a mobile tour. The 2011 campaign was developed by the Hispanic advertising agency Lopez Negrete of Houston, Texas.
Pitbull, whose real name is Armando Christian Perez, plays a mix of crunk, rap and hip-hop, along with Latin sounds of his Cuban heritage.
